Dr. D. J. Pandian is currently posted in Beijing as Vice President and Chief Investment Officer in Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) since April 2016.

Before moving to Beijing, Dr. Pandian had an extensive career in Indian Administrative Service (I.A.S.), holding key positions at the State, National, and international levels. He was the Chief Secretary to the Government of Gujarat and during his tenure had provided thrust on social sector reforms, particularly Healthcare and Education.

He is a visionary who has contributed immensely to the growth of the Energy and Infrastructure sector in the State of Gujarat. Dr. Pandian has also worked in the World Bank in Washington D.C, as an advisor to the Executive Director. He also served in the Ministry of Finance, Government of India as Joint Secretary during the 1990s post-liberalization era.
He is the founder of the “Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI)” and “Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU)” in Gandhinagar, Gujarat. His leadership to these academic and research institutions from conceptualization to reality demonstrates his passion for education and research and development. He also served as Chairman/CEO of several State-Owned Enterprises.

He is an excellent Administrator, Institution Builder, Strategic Planner, and a Policy Maker.
