Reading a Prayer Book

All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work.

2 Timothy 3:16-17

WHAT DO WE BELIEVE ?

  • We believe the scriptures, both old and New testaments, to be the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writing, the complete revelation of God’s will for the salvation of man and the final divine authority for all Christian faith, life and conduct.

  • There is one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. God is infinitely perfect.

  • Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross a substitutionary and atoning death the Just for the Unjust and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. He arose from the dead according to the Scriptures. He is now at the right hand of the Majesty on high as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom of righteousness and peace.

  • Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God, but he fell through disobedience, incurring thereby both physical and spiritual death. All men are born with a sinful nature separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through the atoning work of the Lord Jesus Christ. The destiny of the impenitent and unbelieving is existence forever in conscious torment, but that of the believer is everlasting joy and bliss.

  • Salvation has been provided through Jesus Christ for all men; and those who repent of their sins and believe in Him are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. Salvation is by faith alone by the grace of God.

  • We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is sanctified and empowered to live a godly life in the will of God.

  • The universal church, of which Christ is the Head, consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and commissioned by Christ to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations.

  • There shall be a bodily resurrection of all the dead, of the believer to everlasting blessedness and joy with the Lord, and the unbeliever to judgment and everlasting and conscious punishment.
